Lego is also celebrating the 100th anniversary of the death of star architect Antonio Gaudí on June 10th: the company is bringing the kit with the most parts of all time onto the market, as it announced in Billund, Denmark. The construction process should make the development of the Sagrada Família and various construction stages understandable. On Wednesday, Pope Leo XIV will officially inaugurate the central Jesus Christ tower of the basilica in Barcelona. After 135 years, at 172.5 meters, it replaces Ulm Minster (162 meters) as the tallest church tower in the world.
The Pope’s week-long trip to Spain began on Saturday. Leo XIV, the first native American to hold the papacy, was a pastor and bishop in Peru for around 20 years and speaks fluent Spanish. It is his fourth trip abroad.
According to information, the living room model from Lego consists of 12,060 parts and is 62 centimeters high when fully assembled. What is special is the stained glass window effect created by transparent elements, which imitates the way the light falls through the windows of the real basilica. “Our goal was to honor Gaudí’s vision with the utmost respect, to capture the rhythm of his building, its extraordinary complexity and ambition,” said Lego architecture designer Rok Zgalin.
The set will be available online from November 1st and will cost 750 euros. The estimated construction time is 25 to 35 hours – significantly less than the estimated 150 years of the real model. The church is scheduled to be completely completed in the 2030s. It is one of the most famous sights in Spain.
