The Minister of Vocational Training and Education, Nassima Arhab, discussed with the Secretary General of Vocational Education and Training at the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports of the Greek Republic, Olga Kavitzopoulou, the prospects for cooperation between Algeria and Greece in the field of vocational training and education and the exchange of expertise and successful experiences.
According to what was reported by the Ministry, Arhab, during his meeting in Cairo with Kavitziolou, reviewed Algeria’s vision for developing the vocational training and education system and making it more closely linked to the needs of the national economy, stressing the importance of investing in human capital.
It also highlighted the priority that Algeria attaches to developing specialized centers of excellence in several strategic sectors, such as the agriculture sector, given its vital role in supporting economic development, creating job opportunities, and enhancing the attractiveness of the regions.
For her part, Kavitzopoulou gave a presentation on Greece’s experience in education, vocational training and lifelong learning, focusing on successful practices in qualifying human resources in the agricultural sector, which constitutes one of the basic pillars of the Greek economy, and the results achieved in the field of skills development and linking training to the needs of the labor market.
The meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the Mediterranean Technical and Vocational Education Forum, was an opportunity to exchange visions on ways to benefit from Greek experience in the field of modern agriculture, especially with regard to employing advanced technologies and applications of artificial intelligence in vocational training and qualification, in a way that supports Algeria’s efforts to develop specialized centers of excellence and modernize training programs in line with the requirements of digital transformation and the modern economy.
The Algerian and Greek parties stressed the importance of making this field a focus for bilateral cooperation during the next stage, by intensifying the exchange of experiences and experts, and strengthening partnerships between training institutions in the two countries, according to the same source.
