It’s now three months since Denmark’s immigration ministry put processing of Danish citizenship applications on hold. We’d love to hear the opinions of foreigners in Denmark and from those who are affected by the freeze.
Denmark suspended processing of almost all applications for citizenship via naturalization on March 6th, with the country’s immigration ministry announcing that it needed to wait for clarity on rules until after the election.
The Ministry of Immigration said when processing was halted in March that the “processing of cases will be resumed when there is clarity over which conditions will apply” for citizenship after a new government takes office.
But a spokesperson at the Migration Agency has told The Local that the formation of a new government and the appointment of Morten Bødskov as the new immigration minister is not enough.
Before processing can resume, the new government will need to secure a cross-party parliamentary agreement on citizenship, and this could take some time.
Are you affected by the freeze? Please tell us in the survey below how the ongoing suspension of citizenship processing affects you. If the survey does not appear for you, you can also fill it in using this link.
