The Myanmar national athletics team, which competed in the 86th Singapore Open Track and Field Championships 2026 held in Singapore from 13 to 17 April, has returned home after winning one gold, two silver and one bronze medals.
The team, comprising four athletes who competed in four events, arrived back at Yangon International Airport at 10.30 pm yesterday. They were warmly welcomed back by officials from the Myanmar Olympic Committee and the Myanmar Athletics Federation.
In the competition, Chit Min Aung secured a bronze medal in the men’s javelin throw with a distance of 63.22 metres among 15 participants. In the men’s 1,500 metres, Ye Yint Aung won a silver medal with a time of 3:58.63 minutes, behind an Indonesian athlete who took gold in 3:54.34 minutes, whilst a Singaporean athlete finished third.
In the women’s 10,000-metre race walk, Zin May Htet won the gold medal with a time of 54:32.64, setting a new record. In the men’s 10,000-metre race walk, Naing Lin Tun claimed a silver medal with a time of 49:39.16.
The Myanmar Ambassador to Singapore, Dr Zaw Min Aung, also attended the event to encourage the athletes and present awards. — Bala/KZL
