The Arab Women Association, with the support of the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AECID), concluded the activities of a specialized training workshop on political leadership for women, which lasted for three days, at the Signia Hotel by Hilton Amman, with the participation of a group of women interested in public affairs and political work from various regions of the Kingdom.

This workshop is the seventh out of nine training workshops implemented by the association within the Women’s Political Leadership Program, with the participation of active women from various governorates of Jordan, with the aim of enhancing their political and leadership capabilities and expanding their participation in public life and decision-making.

The workshop was presented by the trainer, Dr. Haifa Haider. During the training days, she addressed a number of topics related to enhancing women’s political participation, reviewing the history of Jordanian political life and the development of women’s participation in public work, in addition to the legislation regulating political and partisan life, and the concepts of comprehensive leadership and its importance in enhancing community participation and making change.

The workshop also focused on developing the leadership and communication skills of the participants, through specialized sessions on negotiation skills in political work, public speaking and communication with the public and the media, in addition to advocacy skills, gaining support and building alliances, which contributes to enhancing the role of women in public life and decision-making.

The workshop witnessed interaction and active participation from the attendees through discussions and practical activities that aimed to develop the participants’ capabilities and enhance their knowledge and political and leadership skills, enabling them to participate more effectively in public affairs.

Walaa Hassan, project coordinator at the Arab Women’s Association, said that this workshop comes within the association’s efforts aimed at enhancing women’s participation in political and public life, and building their leadership capabilities to enable them to contribute effectively to decision-making positions. She added that the association works, through its various programs and projects, to provide supportive spaces for women to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for effective political participation, in line with the paths of political modernization in Jordan.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the participants expressed their appreciation for the distinguished training content that provided a space for dialogue and exchange of experiences, and contributed to enhancing their political awareness and developing their leadership capabilities, stressing the importance of continuing such programs that support the empowerment of women.

This workshop comes within the efforts of the Arab Women Association to enhance women’s political participation and enable them to reach leadership and decision-making positions, in line with the paths of political modernization and the Kingdom’s vision towards expanding women’s participation in public life.
