In Bulgarian Post branches, anyone can exchange up to BGN 1,000 per day, and in individual branches – up to BGN 10,000 with a prior request submitted 3 to 5 working days in advance. Banks want to be warned about amounts over BGN 30,000, and it is necessary to submit the request three working days earlier.
+Until the end of 2026, commercial banks and “Bulgarian Post” have no right to refuse exchange.
The Bulgarian National Bank will continue to carry out the exchange for free and without commissions indefinitely.
