President Luis Abinader appointed three new members of the board of directors of the State Sugar Council (CEA), representing different sectors, as part of the institutional process developed by that entity.
In accordance with Decree 352-26, José García Ramírez was appointed member of the CEA board of directors representing the private sector. Likewise, Rosa Pastora Méndez Méndez was appointed as a member of said organization, also representing the private sector.
The decree also establishes the appointment of Aníbal Amparo as a member of the CEA board of directors representing the manufacturing sector, strengthening the participation of the sectors linked to the functions and responsibilities of the institution.
“The presidential provision states that the designated persons will remain in their respective positions until the process of dissolution of the CEA is concluded or until their replacement is ordered through a new decision of the Executive Branch,” states the press release sent from the Presidency of the Republic.
six years later
The merger of the CEA with National Assets was one of the first announced by President Abinader, however, six years later it has not yet been contemplated. In 2024, the director of both entities, Rafael Burgos Gómez, had indicated that it was “at 92%”, this being the last time an update on that process was offered.
“With these designations, the Government continues to advance in administrative and institutional actions related to the transformation and reorganization of state agencies, in line with the modernization policies promoted by the current government administration,” states the press document.
