Its aim is to enhance knowledge, exchange expertise, and keep pace with the rapid developments witnessed in the international trade finance sector.

Genuine space for dialogue between bankers, commercial entities, and international experts
Al-Zayani stated, “Through this forum, we seek to provide a genuine space for dialogue between banking institutions, commercial entities, and international experts. This will contribute to developing practices related to documentary credits and trade finance, strengthening the capabilities of national personnel, and opening new horizons for cooperation and partnerships with regional and international financial institutions.”

Growing interest in developing Libya’s financial and commercial sector
He added that Libya’s hosting of this event reflects the growing interest in developing the financial and commercial sector. He emphasized that the forum will contribute to supporting efforts to modernize the business environment and improve the efficiency of banking services related to foreign trade, thus serving the national economy and enhancing its integration into global markets.

Bring together select group of experts in the fields of documentary credits
The forum will bring together a select group of officials, experts, and specialists in the fields of documentary credits, trade finance, and correspondent banking, along with representatives from central and commercial banks, financial institutions, chambers of commerce and industry, and shipping, logistics, inspection, and compliance companies. They will discuss the most prominent challenges and opportunities facing international trade in light of global economic changes.

    Panel discussions and specialized workshops
The forum will include panel discussions and specialized workshops addressing the latest developments in documentary credits, bank transfers, and trade finance instruments. It will also showcase best international practices and modern technological solutions that contribute to improving the efficiency of banking operations, facilitating import and export activities, and enhancing compliance and transparency in commercial transactions.

The forum is expected to witness broad participation from experts, academics, decision-makers, and private sector representatives, which will solidify its position as one of the most prominent economic and banking events anticipated in Libya in 2026. It also underscores the crucial role that letters of credit and trade finance instruments play in supporting economic activity and expanding trade cooperation with regional and international markets.
