KUCHING (June 4): Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas continued his annual Gawai Dayak outreach programme on Tuesday with visits to several longhouses in the Ulu Paku area in Betong.
The Bukit Saban assemblyman visited longhouses at Nanga Paun, Jukun, Lubok Kelampu and Danau, where he joined residents in celebrating the harvest festival and received updates on developments affecting communities in the area, according to a report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).
During the visits, Uggah spent time interacting with residents and exchanged views on issues affecting their communities.
Residents warmly welcomed Uggah and his entourage, expressing appreciation for his continued engagement with local communities during the festive season.
The visits reflected the spirit of harmony and inclusiveness that underpins the Gawai Dayak celebration, while providing an opportunity for community leaders and residents to strengthen their relationship.
Accompanying Uggah were his wife Datin Doreen Mayang, PBB Bukit Saban branch women chief Natasha Nasa Uggah, and Bukit Saban branch deputy chief Abang Madehi Abang Abdul Latip.
