The Minister of Public Works and Housing, Engineer Maher Abu Al-Samen, directed the technical and administrative bodies in the Ministry to expedite the study and evaluation of the reality of a number of main and secondary roads in Balqa Governorate, and to work immediately to develop appropriate solutions to raise their efficiency and improve the level of traffic safety on them in a way that serves citizens and facilitates their daily movement in an optimal way.
This came during his meeting at the Ministry’s headquarters with Representative Hamid Al-Rahmaneh and a group of residents of the town of Yarqa in Balqa Governorate, in the presence of the Acting Secretary-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs and the Acting Secretary-General for Technical Affairs. The meeting focused on finding radical solutions to the road file in the governorate, which included the Stairway Road, the Baccalaureate Road, Deir Alla Road, Zee Road, Al-Arda Road, and Amman-Salt Road, in addition to the entrance to Salt and the crafts area.
The Minister and officials in the Ministry listened to a detailed explanation from the representative and the audience about the technical obstacles and problems that these roads suffer from and their impact on public safety. At the end of the meeting, a clear working mechanism and timetable were agreed upon for the start of immediate field tours by the specialized teams to translate these directives on the ground and determine the actual needs of each site.
According to what MP Hamid Al-Rahmneh announced, the delegation reviewed the most prominent needs related to the road sector and infrastructure, stressing the importance of accelerating the completion of the Yarqa entrance expansion project extending from the tunnel to the Yarqa roundabout, in view of the increasing traffic density witnessed on the road and the resulting challenges related to public safety, especially since the project has already obtained official approvals and parts of the lands necessary for its implementation have been acquired… (however, the matter requires follow-up in other institutions and departments).
The delegation also stressed the necessity of developing the Yarqa-Hadbaa-Wadi Shuaib road by improving traffic safety elements, addressing turns and dangerous points, and providing it with the necessary lighting, as it represents a vital artery that serves citizens and the agricultural sector and connects a number of neighboring areas.
The meeting also addressed the problem of lighting outages on the Aira – Al Karama road as a result of repeated attacks on the lighting network, as the delegation called for urgent measures to be taken to rehabilitate the network and enhance its protection, in a way that ensures the safety of road users and reduces traffic risks.
Regarding the agricultural sector, the delegation stressed the importance of maintaining and rehabilitating existing agricultural roads and developing new roads that serve farmers and owners of agricultural lands, thus contributing to supporting economic development and improving the level of services provided to the agricultural sector in the district.
For his part, the Minister of Public Works and Housing stressed the Ministry’s interest in the demands raised during the meeting, directing the competent authorities to study the projects and needs presented in accordance with the priorities and available capabilities, in a way that contributes to enhancing traffic safety and improving the infrastructure and services provided to citizens.
In addition to MP Hamid Khalil Al-Rahmaneh, the delegation included Dr. Mansour Ibrahim Al-Saaida, Dr. Fawaz Ahmed Al-Baqour, Engineer Ahmed Youssef Al-Abadi, Rajab Abdul Hamid Al-Rahmaneh, Ahmed Khalifa Al-Tawahia, and Zuhair Abdul Karim Al-Shanikat.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the attendees appreciated the minister’s response and cooperation with the demands presented, stressing the continued follow-up of these projects through parliamentary efforts and cooperation with various official bodies, in a way that achieves the aspirations of the people of Ayra and Yarqa districts and serves the public interest.
