Maximino Morales, judge of the Second Criminal Court, decided this Tuesday, June 2, to send to trial Carlos Ovidio Acevedo for attempted murder, after repeatedly running over Larkin Morales, who lost a leg as a result of what happened.
After the hearing, lawyer Fernando Guerra, representative of Larkin Morales, indicated that Acevedo’s defense presented a document seeking to have him declared mentally incapable of facing criminal proceedings, but the judge rejected it.
He added that during the intermediate phase hearing the judge determined that there are sufficient elements for the accused to face justice.
Prior to the hearing, Morales expressed: “I had a life ahead of me, I was studying a career in Nursing and I couldn’t continue; the rehabilitations have been tedious and long. My life has changed a lot.”
Acevedo is accused of repeatedly running over motorist Morales in an incident that occurred on September 25, 2025 in zone 9 of the capital.
The case, which was initially classified as serious injuries, gained public notoriety after the attack was recorded on video and widely disseminated on social networks.

Just last February 12, Acevedo attended an intermediate stage hearing in the Second Criminal Court, where his lawyer sought to modify the crime of attempted homicide to a less serious one.
