Consecrations: The student council of Claude Bernard Primary School in Casablanca has chosen four exceptional Moroccan women to give their name to the establishment’s buildings. Leïla Alaoui, Bouchra Baibanou, Nadia Ben Bahtane, and Aïcha Ech Chenna were chosen for their exceptional career or their commitment. This educational project, inspired by the book Les Intrépides by Mentor’Elles, is part of an educational approach around the Sustainable Development Goals, the promotion of democratic values and gender equality.

It’s done. The student council of Claude Bernard Primary School in Casablanca has decided to give the respective names of four Moroccan women to four buildings of the establishment. Thus, the name of Nadia Ben Bahtane, Chief Brand & Engagement Officer of Intelcia, appears alongside that of Leïla Alaoui, Bouchra Baibanou and Aïcha Ech Chenna. To make this inspiring choice, the students relied on Les Intrépides, a work published by the Mentor’Elles association highlighting the journeys of remarkable Moroccan women. This project, which is fully part of an educational approach, is structured around the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations and the learning of democratic values. Noting an under-representation of female figures in the names of AEFE (Agency for French Education Abroad) educational establishments in the Casablanca – Mohammedia region, the student delegates voted to honor these four exceptional Moroccan women in order to actively promote gender equality.

The first Moroccan woman to swim solo across the Strait of Gibraltar, recognized among the 50 most adventurous open water swimmers in the world by WOWSA in 2015, and nominated among the women of the year by the World Open Water Swimming Association, Nadia Ben Bahtane embodies on a daily basis the values of surpassing oneself, daring and responsibility dear to Intelcia. Beyond her high-level sporting exploits, she has been able to transform each of her crossings into a platform for societal commitment, actively working for the empowerment of women, the emancipation of youth and the preservation of the oceans. “This initiative particularly touches me, because it is supported by students and it transmits a strong message around equality, commitment and self-confidence.

Seeing my name associated with a place of learning and transmission, alongside Moroccan women with remarkable careers, is a true honor. If this can encourage even one young girl to believe in her dreams and dare to follow her own path, then it makes perfect sense,” said Nadia Ben Bahtane, Chief Brand & Engagement Officer at Intelcia. Through this permanent tribute paid alongside other emblematic figures of the Kingdom – Leïla Alaoui, Bouchra Baibanou and Aïcha Ech Chenna – the journey of Nadia Ben Bahtane will continue to inspire every day the approximately 600 students of the Claude Bernard School to dream big and push their limits.
