The Ministry of Economy and Trade announced yesterday the start of implementing new measures (No. 289/2026) to regulate the import of grains and raw materials, aimed at limiting imports to actual production units and preventing their importation for the purpose of resale.
The measures include regulating the import of wheat, corn, barley and soybeans, combating brokerage and speculation, linking imported quantities to real production capacities, in addition to activating a system of control and tracking.
The ministry stressed that these steps aim to stabilize the prices of feed, meat, poultry and eggs, and ensure that raw materials reach the actual producers in a way that supports food security and improves the standard of living of citizens. It pointed out that the markets have begun to witness a gradual decline in meat prices and an improvement in supply levels as a result of the control of the feed market and the regulation of import operations.
