The final round of the Libyan Premier League championship stage concluded with Al-Nasr and Al-Sweihli securing places in the final after topping the eastern and western groups respectively.
Striker Yahya Al-Zlitni led Al-Nasr to the final after scoring a late penalty winner in the 89th minute against Al-Ittihad Al-Askari in a match that ended 2-1 for Al-Nasr. The victory saw Al-Nasr finish top of the eastern group with 13 points, two ahead of Al-Akhdar, which failed to qualify despite defeating Al-Hilal 2-0. Meanwhile, Al-Ahly Benghazi claimed a morale-boosting 3-0 win over Al-Afriqi.
Al-Sweihli booked its place in the final after topping the western group with 13 points following a goalless draw against defending champions Al-Ahly Tripoli, which remained on 11 points despite dominating much of the match. Al-Sweihli defense, led by standout goalkeeper Moaad Al-Mansouri, managed to secure the crucial point needed for qualification. Elsewhere, Al-Ittihad defeated Al-Olympi 2-1 to finish third in the group, while Al-Madina and Al-Ittihad Misurata played out a 1-1 draw.
The Competitions Committee has yet to announce the date of the final, though media reports suggest it will likely be held outside Libya, most probably in Morocco, with a foreign refereeing crew and VAR technology in use.
The Libyan Football Federation also clarified the qualification mechanism for African competitions. If Libya is allocated two spots only, the league champion will qualify for the CAF Champions League, while the Libya Cup winner will enter the CAF Confederation Cup. If Libya receives four spots, the league champion and runner-up will qualify for the Champions League, while the Libya Cup winner and the third-placed league team will participate in the Confederation Cup.
