Kuwait Labor Authority Takes Action Against Fuel Company Over Workers’ Protest in Al-Abdali

KUWAIT CITY, Jun 4: The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) has initiated legal proceedings against a fuel supply company operating in the Al-Abdali area after detecting a partial work stoppage by employees over delayed wage payments.

According to the authority, the action was taken after several workers reportedly halted work due to the non-payment of their financial dues, including overtime wages allegedly withheld for more than five months.

PAM said its competent department immediately began legal procedures against the company under Kuwait’s Private Sector Labour Law No. (6) of 2010 and its implementing regulations.

    Inspection After Viral Video

The authority stated that its inspection teams were deployed after a video circulating on social media showed a mass work stoppage at the company site. Field teams from the Labour Relations Department visited the location to investigate the circumstances and record workers’ statements.

The inspection was carried out in the presence of senior officials, including the Acting Deputy Director General for Labour Affairs, Fahd Mansour Al-Ajmi, and Acting Director of the Labour Relations Department, Ali Al-Dalmani.

    Findings and Violations

Initial investigations indicated that the work stoppage lasted around 30 minutes on the first day and approximately one hour on the following day.

Authorities said the dispute stemmed primarily from unpaid overtime wages and alleged violations of labour regulations related to overtime work arrangements.

    Zero-Tolerance Stance

PAM reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a fair and regulated labour market, stressing that it enforces a “zero tolerance” policy toward violations affecting workers’ rights.

The authority added that its inspection teams continue to monitor labour conditions around the clock to detect any unlawful work stoppages or disputes, urging both employers and workers to adhere to legal procedures and resolve conflicts through official channels.
