One of Europe’s best heavyweights spends his free days with his wife and daughter on Lošinj, and he made his followers feel good with rare family photos: he feeds his daughter, plays with her and – exercises.
While the boxing world knows him as a relentless fighter and one of the most dangerous heavyweights today, Filip Hrgović who will celebrate his 34th birthday on June 4, has shown his much softer side these days. The best Croatian boxer shared rare family photos on social networks from his vacation on Lošinj, where he is enjoying himself with his wife Marinella and their two-year-old daughter. Away from boxing rings, training and hard preparations for new matches, the native of Zagreb devoted himself to the role of husband and father, which he seems to take just as seriously as his sports career. And that he is a great dad, his wife once praised him in an interview for Gloria.
“I knew that Filip was wonderful to his nephews and that he would be a great dad, but this much, not really. He surprised me even more. Nothing is difficult for him, he feeds her, changes her clothes, plays with her. He knows how to say to me: ‘Well, how will I be able to forbid her? But that’s why I’m here,'” she said a year ago.
And Hrgović has always jealously guarded his private life from the public eye, so moments like this are a real rarity. That is exactly why his photos from the family vacation did not go unnoticed among followers who are used to seeing him in a completely different version – in the ring with boxing gloves and a killer facial expression. This time he showed a completely different face, that of a caring father who enjoys spending time with his wife and little girl.
His wife Marinela, a former volleyball player and economist, has been with him since his youth. They met in Sesvete, in the neighborhood where they both grew up. The couple got married in 2019, and at the beginning of 2024 they became the parents of a girl, whose identity they try to keep away from media attention. Filip has emphasized on several occasions that it is his family that gives him the greatest strength and stability, especially at times when he is going through demanding preparations and major sporting challenges.
And there are reasons for satisfaction on the professional front as well. After suffering the first defeat in his professional career against Daniel Dubois last year, Hrgović successfully returned with victories and re-established his status as one of the leading challengers in the heavyweight division. His last victory on May 16 against the British Dave Allen, whom he ‘resolved’ with a technical knockout, further fueled speculation about a big showdown with the young British star Moses Itauma, which could be one of the key matches of his career and is rumored to take place in early August.
But before new sporting challenges and his return to the ring, the Croatian boxing giant has obviously decided to recharge his batteries where he feels best – in the company of his loved ones. Photos from Lošinj showed that behind the nickname “El Animal” there is a completely different side of Filip Hrgović, one that the public does not have the opportunity to see so often.
