The perpetrators of the assassination of an officer in Basra were overthrown

    Baghdad – Ibtihal Al Arabi

A security force overthrew the perpetrators of the assassination of an officer affiliated with the Basra Crime Control Directorate during their attempt to escape outside the country. A security source said yesterday that “security forces were able to arrest the perpetrators of the assassination of Major Hussein Abu Risha at the Shalamcheh border crossing.” Pointing out that (the arrest process took place while the accused were trying to escape, where they were arrested and the necessary legal measures were taken against them, in preparation for completing the investigations and uncovering the circumstances of the crime). The Ministry of Interior had opened an extensive investigation into the circumstances of the assassination of an officer in the Anti-Crime Directorate in Basra. A statement from the ministry received by Al-Zaman yesterday said: “Senior Interior Undersecretary Hussein Al-Awadi directed the formation of a specialized work team to investigate the assassination.” Al-Awadi stressed “the need to intensify security and intelligence efforts to uncover the circumstances of the incident, pursue those involved, arrest them, and bring them to justice.” The people of Basra mourned Abu Risha, an officer of the Anti-Crime Directorate. Yesterday, eyewitnesses said: “The victim’s family carried his body to its final resting place.” A security source had previously reported that the officer was shot by unknown gunmen in the New Al-Asmai area near his home, which led to his immediate martyrdom. The source indicated yesterday that “the perpetrators of the attack were riding a motorcycle and fled after carrying out the operation.” In Baghdad, security sources reported that a Syrian couple suffered serious burns after a fire broke out inside their home in Sadr City. The sources explained yesterday that “preliminary information indicates that the accident resulted from a cooking gas leak.” She added: “The injured were taken to the hospital to receive treatment, and their condition is critical.” In addition, civil defense teams were able to extinguish a fire that broke out inside a cardboard factory in the Kuweish area, south of Baghdad, without recording any human casualties. Yesterday’s statement said: “The fire brigades opened an investigation into the accident, to determine the causes and circumstances of the accident.” Detachments of the Military Intelligence Directorate arrested three people accused of terrorist cases in Baghdad and Anbar. A statement from the directorate yesterday explained that “the operation was based on accurate intelligence information and in implementation of the directives of the Director of Military Intelligence regarding the pursuit of those wanted in terrorism cases.” He continued, “The detachments were able to arrest two terrorists in Baghdad, while they succeeded in overthrowing a third terrorist in Anbar Governorate.” He pointed out that (the defendants were issued arrest warrants in accordance with the provisions of Article 4 of the Anti-Terrorism Law, and they were handed over to the competent authorities to complete the legal procedures). At the same time, a security force arrested a content maker to investigate him regarding the sources of money and gifts that he appears to be distributing on social media platforms. A source said yesterday: “The investigation is focusing on the sources of money and gifts he offers in the video clips, and not on the nature of the content he publishes.” Confirming that (the content creator appears in circulated recordings distributing modern vehicles, sums of money, and various gifts).

While the Karkh Court of Appeal approached the Presidency of the House of Representatives with a request to lift the immunity of Representative Muhammad al-Karbouli, in preparation for taking legal and investigative measures against him. According to an official document yesterday, “The Presidency of the Court requested that Karbouli’s immunity be lifted for the purpose of conducting an investigation against him regarding his accusation of requesting bribes amounting to $50,000 in exchange for intervening to close investigative committees and keeping a school principal in his position.” The document indicated that (the request comes to complete the legal and investigative procedures in accordance with the approved procedures).
