The two councilors of the PS of the Lisbon City Council constituted defendants within the scope of the Operation ImmersiveSérgio Cintra and Carla Madeira, are expected to continue in office, despite Alexandra Leitão having said that she would suspend her mandate if she were in the same position. To PÚBLICO, the head of the list of socialists in the country’s largest chamber in the last local elections reiterates his position, but says that nothing obliges Cintra and Madeira to resign, “from a legal and ethical point of view”, and it is up to each of them to make a concrete assessment of their “political conditions”. Which is why, he says, he refuses to “put pressure” on them.
