Deir Ezzor, June 1 (SANA) Authorities in Deir Ezzor said on Monday that water levels along the Euphrates have continued to decline, with a drop of more than 25 centimetres recorded in al-Huwayqa, which remains generally safe.
Flooding persists in parts of Hawijat Saqr, though water has partially receded from main roads, while some homes and farmland remain affected. Other areas in the district are reported safe.
Officials said the governorate has passed the most critical phase of the river rise and is expected to stabilize within 48 hours, following measures including reduced discharge from dams and closure of a spillway gate.
In Raqqa countryside, the Ministry of Energy said it has restored the Maadan drinking water station after a temporary shutdown, while six water pumping stations have resumed operations following precautionary measures. Earlier, equipment had been removed from at-risk stations to prevent damage.
The Ministry of Public Works and Housing said the first phase of reinforcement on the al-Asharah bridge in Deir Ezzor has been completed, securing traffic flow between the river’s two banks, with further strengthening works ongoing. Preparations are also underway to rehabilitate the al-Siyasiya and Al-Mayadeen bridges next week.
The Ministry of Finance said discussions are ongoing to accelerate funding and procedures for repairing damaged bridges in Raqqa and Deir Ezzor under a broader 2026 infrastructure plan.
Emergency teams continue monitoring riverbanks, reinforcing embankments and carrying out evacuations where necessary to reduce risks to residents and infrastructure.
