Yesterday, the fishing season for Safi, Shaari and Anq fish opened after the end of the two-month ban period, but the markets witnessed the availability of limited quantities of fish, which led to an increase in their prices on the first day of the season.

Al-Jazzaf Abdul Rasoul Hassan from the Manama Central Market said: “The quantities offered were small due to the gusts of wind and high temperatures, in addition to the fact that many fishermen obtained fishing permits on the first day of the end of the ban and unloaded their equipment, which prevented them from going out to sea early.” He pointed out that the price of a kilogram of net water reached about 4.5 dinars, while the price of a refrigerator reached 180 dinars.

For his part, Al-Jazzaf Hassan Al-Sheikh explained that the first day after lifting the ban witnessed an increase in net prices as a result of limited supply compared to increased demand, indicating that the price of a kilo of net worth reached 4.5 dinars. He added that the price of the Shaari refrigerator reached 160 dinars, while the price of a kilo reached 3.5 dinars. He attributed the small quantities to the failure of some fishermen to enter the sea, in addition to the effect of the winds, expecting the supply to improve in the coming days as the weather improves. In the Jidhafs Central Market, one of the shepherds confirmed that the available quantities of nettle were limited, which contributed to the rise in its prices despite the end of the ban. He attributed this to the rise in temperatures and gusts of wind, expecting prices to gradually decline with an increase in the quantities of fish coming to the markets in the coming days.
