Saprissa shouts to the sky and denounces lack of sports equity

In Saprissa There is a topic that bothers you like a stone in a shoe. The purple ones are not comfortable with a risk they must take and, according to what they say, with the exception of them and Sporting, the other teams do not have it.

For the people of Tibase there is no sporting equity, because in the final of the Cup Tournament next Wednesday, if any player is expelled, they will lose Sunday’s classic against Alajuelense.

“It makes no sense that the teams that reached the final, that take this tournament seriously and have put our effort into both the national championship and the Cup Tournament, have that risk that others do not have. I think that punishments should be purged in each tournament,” said Erick Lonis, Saprissa leader, after the match that the purple team lost at home 1-2 against Liberia.

For Erick, the measure has no reason to exist, but he added that they can’t do anything.

“It’s unfair, but hey, it’s not an excuse, it’s the rules of the game and that’s how it’s established. Now we can’t complain about something that as a team and institution we accept, we have to play it,” Lonis said.

José Francisco Porras, technical secretary of Saprissa, also gave his opinion on the subject.

“We are exposed to losing a player for the next game. It is not ideal and it is part of the history of football and we have to face it like this. That was already established and we must face it, Saprissa’s mentality is to go for everything. Saprissa will win what it disputes no matter what it is,” said Porras.

The Nation He asked Unafut why, if a player is sent off in the Cup final, the punishment is served in the next championship match.

“Because it is the last game of the Cup Tournament, there is no more. If someone is expelled, there are no more matches for them to serve the sanction in the Cup, so they must serve the sanction in the national competition,” said Allan Fernández, Unafut’s press chief.

Fernández clarified that the situation is different with the yellow ones. For example, in Saprissa, Mariano Torres, Kendall Waston and Ricardo Blanco have four yellow cards; The regulations dictate that whoever scores five yellow cards must comply with a sanction commitment.

“It does not apply with the yellow cards, because those who have three or four cards received them in the national championship and that is where they add up and will serve the eventual sanction,” said Allan Fernández.

    THE NATION

    The Nation

Hernán Medford, Saprissa coach, was upset with the rules of the Cup Tournament.

“This is not planned well, we play the classic while Alajuela rests, we are playing on Wednesday, anything is happening; besides, the regulations are illogical. If a player expels me on Wednesday, he cannot play the classic, then you do your best to reach the final, but it is a total disadvantage because there are rules that do not apply, what does the Cup and the national championship have to do with it,” he said in a press conference prior to the final against the albinegros.

Medford went further and even offered to help plan an upcoming Cup Tournament.

“The yellow ones don’t count, but the red ones do. If they are going to have a cup tomorrow, let them sit down with football people, let us plan and help them set up a cup tournament so that it is interesting, because you have to plan it and sit down to do it, but although we have taken it with great importance, the cup has disastrous regulations,” he said.

Saprissa visits Sporting in the Cup final, which will be played on Wednesday at 7 pm at the Edgardo Baltodano stadium.

Since the competition began, the final was established in a single match in Liberia. This afternoon the raffle for the home team was held and Sporting won it.

In the Cup Tournament, clubs must complete 360 minutes per game with players born in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 or 2009. If they do not comply, they lose the three points.

In the contest there are no overtimes; If the final is tied, it is immediately decided on penalties.

The purple ones are in full dispute for first place, in which they already lost ground to Herediano after Sunday’s defeat against Liberia. After playing this final, they will have to go to Alajuela next Sunday to face the national classic.
