The countdown is over. THE Lions of the Atlas took, this Wednesday, the direction of UNITED STATES to participate in the 2026 World Cupwith in their baggage the hopes of millions of Moroccans.
At theRabat-Salé airportthe national team, its technical staff and the entire Moroccan delegation were greeted before boarding a special flight Royal Air Morocco connecting Rabat to New York-JFK. L’National Airports Authority (ONDA) marked the event by organizing a ceremony on the occasion of the departure of the national selection.
The players passed through a guard of honor formed by the different components of ONDA: reception agents, facilitation teams, technicians, engineers, aerodrome firefighters and establishment executives. A way to demonstrate the institution’s support for the national team at the dawn of one of the most important sporting competitions on the planet. The office emphasizes that all of its teams are mobilized alongside the Royal Moroccan Football Federation in order to ensure the best travel conditions for the national selections and Moroccan supporters during the 2026 World Cup. This initiative is an extension of the strategic partnership concluded last March between ONDA and the FRMF. This agreement aims in particular to improve the reception and mobility conditions of national teams, to strengthen the logistical systems intended for sports delegations and to support the international influence of Morocco through sport.
A few years before the major sporting events that the Kingdom is preparing to host, in particular the 2030 World Cup, this departure also has symbolic significance. For ONDA, it illustrates the mobilization of national institutions around Morocco’s sporting ambitions and its international image.
Heading now to the United States for Mohamed Ouahbi’s men, who will have the heavy responsibility of wearing the colors of the Kingdom during this new global campaign. A journey that carries with it the dreams and expectations of an entire country.
