Two drones were suspected of violating Finnish airspace in Hamina, a municipality in Eastern Finland on Sunday, said Finnish Border Guard in a press release in the afternoon.
One of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles was detected at Virolahti area at about 3:00 a.m. while the rest one was detected at Ulko-Tammio area in Kymenlaakso region near Russian border.
Local media, quoting Finnish Air force said that the drones were flying towards Russia.
Earlier on the day the Ministry of Defense and Finnish Airforce also reported violation of country´s airspace by a drone at Virolahti area.
The model or origin of the drone has not been identified, and the drone is no longer in Finnish airspace, said the Ministry in a press release on Sunday morning.
Meanwhile, after the violation Finnish Air Force imposed a temporary aviation restriction over the sea area off the coast of Kotka-Hamina.
The restriction was lifted at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday.
The Gulf of Finland Coast Guard has launched an investigation into the incident.
The drones came as Ukraine attacked the major Russian oil port of Primorsk on the Gulf of Finland, local media reported.
Several Ukranian drones were suspected of Finnish territorial violation during the recent period.
One more Ukrainian drone was found in Finland on March 31, 2026.
The Ukrainian authorities apologised to Finland for the drones’ crashes.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said that the authorities do not completely exclude the possibility that, in addition to the unmanned aerial vehicles already found in Finland, several other such aircraft might have ended up in the country.
The Finnish Defence Forces intensified surveillance measures to ensure territorial integrity when Ukraine carried out attacks against Russian targets in the eastern Gulf of Finland.
On April 7, Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen and her Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha discussed the recent incidents of drones that have strayed into Finnish territory.
