Youth Minister, Haitham Al-Zahaf, has held talks with the UN Population Fund’s resident representative in Libya, Ziad Nabulsi, on developing the country’s first national youth strategy.
According to a ministry statement, discussions focused on strengthening support for youth initiatives, with officials noting that young people make up more than a third of Libya’s population, underscoring the need for greater national and international investment in their development.
The meeting also addressed potential cooperation on drafting the strategy, with an emphasis on ensuring young people are directly involved in shaping it.
Officials further discussed mechanisms to enhance Libya’s standing in the Youth Rank Index and align it with ongoing development efforts.
The talks were attended by representatives from the ministry’s international cooperation office and youth empowerment department, as well as an official from the foreign ministry’s international organisations department.
