Myanmar’s first university-level esports tournament, the PUBG MOBILE Varsity Esports Championship, will be held at Yangon University in late July, organized by the Myanmar Electronic Sports Federation (MESF) in collaboration with PUBG MOBILE Offline.
The tournament will feature 16 university teams that qualified through the Campus Clash Offline Qualifiers held from 17 to 19 June. A total of 273 teams, comprising 1,092 players from 29 universities and colleges nationwide, competed in the qualifiers.
The qualified teams from Yangon, Mandalay, Nay Pyi Taw, Meiktila and other regions and states will compete at Yangon University Gymnasium on 25 and 26 July.
MESF Vice-President U Kyaw Htet Lin said the event aims to discover and develop young esports talent. The winning team will compete against professional esports teams, while outstanding players may be selected as national representatives. MESF said the tournament is part of efforts to strengthen Myanmar’s esports sector and prepare athletes for national and international competitions. — Thitsa (MNA)/KZL
