A 24-year-old man who police said was wanted in connection with serious criminal matters has died after being shot by officers at Morris Gap, Westbury Road, St Michael.The deceased has been identified as Absalom Abejah Francis-Hunte, of Upper Collymore Rock, St Michael.The Barbados Police Service said officers were conducting an operation at a residence around 10:56 a.m. on Friday in relation to Francis-Hunte.Police said he was seen and “engaged the police” before he was shot.Medical assistance was sought and personnel from the Barbados Ambulance Service, along with a medical doctor, responded to the scene.Francis-Hunte was transported by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he later died.A senior police officer has been assigned to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist the investigation to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477, Police Emergency at 211, or the Criminal Investigations Department at 430-7189 or 430-7190.
