The parliamentary elections are in full swing on Tuesday, but what do the voters really think of the election campaign.
Sermitsiaq has met two voters who each have their own priorities.
Pitsi Jakobsen, chooses:
Today there are general elections. Which values do you vote for today?
– My priority is society’s welfare, but I haven’t noticed that much in this election campaign in the short time I’ve been following. They mostly talk about the pressure on our country. Since I do not support a particular party, I will vote based on the needs of the people and for a candidate who gives hope.
You said you hadn’t followed the election campaign very much?
– I listen when I have the opportunity, but switch off when there is too much criticism. I don’t hear much about the community’s needs, even though I want to. Life today is so stressful and everything is getting more expensive that I lose interest when I see that not many candidates go into it.
How important is the general election today?
– It is important for Greenlandic society because the elected must work for us, our goals and our conditions. I vote with hope, but I do not say who or which party, as I do not vote for a particular party.

What values do you vote for today?
– If a candidate has the opportunity to gain influence for the benefit of my country, then that is the person I choose to vote for.
You may have followed the election campaign – what do you think of it?
– It is nice. They are very clear, but there is also a slight doubt as to whether there is too much focus on the most prominent candidates. Maybe we could have seen more of all of them, but overall it’s fine.
How important is the general election today?
– It is very important because we are currently experiencing pressure from other countries. We vote in the name of democracy, and the elected must work for our country.
