San Pedro Sula.
A strong storm recorded this Friday afternoon caused flooding, vehicle chaos and multiple emergencies in different sectors of San Pedro Sulaleaving streets and avenues completely flooded.
In a matter of minutes, the intense rain collapsed the drainage system in several parts of the city, making it difficult for vehicles to circulate and putting drivers and pedestrians at risk.
Images captured by citizens show how important roads in the industrial capital were turned into real rivers, while dozens of motorists were trapped in the middle of the water currents.
The traffic congestion lasted for several hours due to the flooding that affected neighborhoods, neighborhoods and high-traffic boulevards.
One of the most serious incidents occurred in the Los Arcos Boulevard where the force of the current undermined the terrain and caused the pavement to sink. As a consequence, a huge sinkhole was formed into which a vehicle driven by Jenny Gómez fell, generating moments of anguish and mobilizing emergency forces to the affected area.
The storm once again highlighted the problems that San Pedro Sula faces during the rainy season, especially in areas where the drainage system is insufficient in the face of high intensity rainfall.
