Drama
A serious traffic accident that occurred on Friday evening, June 5, 2026, on the road linking Demnate to Sidi Rahhal, near the town of Ouled Khlouf, cost the lives of three members of the same family.
According to local sources, a collision occurred between a light car and a motorcycle carrying a couple and their daughter. The accident resulted in the immediate death of the wife and child, while the father, seriously injured, was evacuated to the nearby Demnate hospital before being transferred to Salam hospital in Kalaât Sraghna, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Alerted, elements of the Royal Gendarmerie as well as the local authorities of the Tiddili Ftouaka circle went to the scene in order to carry out the usual findings and open an investigation with a view to determining the exact circumstances of this tragedy. The remains of the victims were transferred to the morgue of the Demnate local hospital.
In parallel with this tragedy, the Demnate police services are continuing their control operations aimed at combating traffic violations, particularly those involving illegally imported and modified motorcycles.
The control operations carried out on Friday alone resulted in the issuance of dozens of tickets for various road offenses. The police also noted several crimes linked to the unauthorized modification of the technical characteristics of motorcycles, the alteration of their engines as well as irregularities concerning administrative documents, in particular cases of falsification or absence of legal documents.
These interventions led to the impoundment of more than 60 motorcycles that did not meet safety requirements or did not have the required regulatory documents.
The police also seized a stolen motorcycle found dismantled with a view to reselling its spare parts, highlighting certain illicit practices associated with this type of vehicle.
This campaign enjoys broad support from residents of the region, who are calling for it to be maintained and strengthened in order to deal with the increase in road accidents linked to non-compliance with the Highway Code and the reckless behavior of certain two-wheeled drivers.
This new tragedy reignites the debate on the need to strengthen road controls and awareness-raising actions in favor of road safety, with the aim of reducing the number of victims on the roads of the province.
