The operation was carried out by a special unit of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Alfa. Source Ukrainian truth from the secret service stated that according to preliminary information, five crude oil storage tanks were damaged, each of which has a volume of 20,000 cubic meters.
The Ukrainian side interprets the attack as an attack on the financial background of the Russian war. According to a source cited by Ukrainian Pravda, such operations may limit Russia’s ability to prepare export deliveries and fulfill trade contracts. This could subsequently be reflected in the income that Moscow uses for the continuation of military operations against Ukraine.
According to this information, the station plays an important role in the processing of Russian oil intended for export. It is there that oil with different sulfur content from several deposits is mixed, from which the Urals export mixture is subsequently created. It is one of the most important Russian oil products on foreign markets, and therefore the facility is of strategic importance for the entire system of transportation and shipping of oil.
An independent portal also drew attention to the attack The Moscow Timesaccording to which the target could be a station connected to the Druzhba pipeline in the Samara region. The media remind that it is a part of the network operated by the company Transneft Družba, a subsidiary of the state enterprise Transneft.
The governor of the Samara region, Viačeslav Fedorishčev, confirmed the attack on an “industrial object”, but did not specify the specific location. The Russian Air Transport Authority temporarily suspended the operation of the airports in Samara and Ulyanovsk at night.
At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its air defenses shot down 97 Ukrainian drones over several regions of Russia and the Black Sea on Tuesday night.
The Ukrainian armed forces previously said that on April 18 they hit four important Russian oil industry facilities, including two refineries in the Samara region.
Recently, Kiev has intensified attacks on Russian oil and logistics infrastructure with the aim of weakening Moscow’s military capabilities.
