Two people were treated for minor injuries following a collision involving an electric and a hybrid vehicle near the junction of Windsor and Brighton in St George on Friday morning.
Station Officer Roger Bourne of the Bridgetown Fire Station said emergency services responded around 8 a.m. to the incident, where both vehicles had already collided on what he described as a slippery roadway.
Fire officers used stabilising equipment to secure both vehicles, including disconnecting the battery in the hybrid vehicle to ensure safety at the scene.
“There were no major injuries. There were slight injuries from the seatbelt, from the impact,” Bourne said.
Both the Government ambulance and an urgent care ambulance attended the scene and treated the occupants, who were said to be in stable condition and later sought further medical attention.
Bourne noted that the accident occurred under wet conditions and warned motorists to exercise greater caution, particularly when transitioning between dry and wet road surfaces.
“As I responded, I recognised the road was really slippery… we just need to take a little bit more caution when driving on wet roads or when approaching from a dry area into a wet area,” he said.
He added that another accident had occurred a short distance away under similar conditions earlier that morning.
“We need to be more cautious… although we are in a hurry, take our time,” Bourne urged.
