Two miners died this Saturday after a landslide and rock fell in a gold deposit in the town of Callaoin the state of Bolívar, local authorities reported.
The incident occurred in the pit known as the El Tobogán mine, located in the Caratal sector of the El Perú community.
The victims were identified as Neiker Urbano, 29, and Jesús Guerra, 23, who were carrying out cutting work in one of the underground galleries when the collapse occurred.
According to the preliminary report, The two young men were carrying out a cut or collapse of a portion of land inside the mining pit when one of the walls gave way and buried them.
The mine where they were trapped was approximately 26 meters deep and had another 10 meters of underground path.
What was detailed is that Civil Protection commissions and the municipal fire department traveled to the site to carry out the rescue maneuvers.
The recovery of the bodies was carried out through another grave, whose galleries connect with the mine in which the two workers died.
Once the rescue efforts were completed, security officials and municipal firefighters They transferred the bodies to the El Callao morgue, where they will remain waiting for the corresponding procedures.
