Far from calming his attacks on the pope, which began this Sunday with a long publication on his Truth Social network, Trump insisted that “he is very soft on crime and other issues.”
Trump on Sunday attacked the pontiff, who has been highly critical of the war in Iran and has launched several calls for peace, accusing him of being “weak on crime and terrible at foreign policy.”

Leo XIV responded this Monday by assuring that he is not “afraid of the Trump Administration.”
“I will continue to raise my voice to build peace,” he told reporters aboard the papal plane.
In addition to the tension with the pope, Trump generated controversy for publishing on his networks, and then deleting, an image in which he was represented as Jesus and which had generated strong rejection from Catholic representatives until now related to the president.
“I thought it was me, as a doctor,” Trump justified to the media after having deleted the image from social networks.
Far from acknowledging the error, he attacked the media and pointed out that “only the fake news media could invent something like that.”
“I make people better,” he added.
