The American president writes on his social media Truth Social that preparations are being made for extensive investigations of Greenland.
US President Donald Trump posted a notice on its own medium Truth Social on the night of Wednesday that a major exploration of oil, gas and minerals is on the way in Greenland.
– Preparations are being made for an extensive exploration of oil, gas and minerals in our new and beautiful Greenland! There are experts who claim that the amount of readily available oil is far greater than in almost any other country in the world, Trump writes.
It is unclear which concrete investigations in the underground the US president is referring to.
In the same post, Trump writes that Greenland “from a security point of view, in terms of both defense and attack for both the United States and Europe, is unparalleled”.
The post was posted a few hours after he had once again posted a picture of himself looking over what looks like a Greenlandic town. The picture says “Hello, Greenland”.
Sermitsiaq has asked the Ministry of Industry and Raw Materials if they are aware of specific upcoming investigations for oil, gas and minerals in Greenland. We have not yet received an answer.
