WASHINGTON – The summit of political America in Washington abruptly stopped preparations for a high-level diplomatic delegation that was supposed to go to Islamabad. President Donald Trump ordered special envoy Steve Witkoff and senior adviser Jared Kushner to abandon their travel plans, which were aimed at establishing communication channels with Iranian authorities.
The administration characterized the potential 18-hour trip as unproductive, signaling a dramatic shift in approach to the ongoing crisis.
During telephone interviews with “Fox News” and “Axios”, the US president stressed that his administration maintains full control over the situation.
Trump stated that the Iranian leadership has the ability to establish direct contact, rather than requiring American representatives to make strenuous international trips.
He rejected the idea of continuing long flights just to participate in discussions that bring minimal substantive progress, stating that the Islamic Republic has a responsibility to address, stating “Yeni Safak“.
