SAN MARINO – 1,077,213 visitors arrived in San Marino between June and September 2026, a figure in line with previous seasons and a decrease of 1.52% compared to the same period in 2025. Added to these are 349,241 people who reached the Titano with the Rimini-San Marino bus. The results of the summer season were presented yesterday morning in the Mauro Maiani Conference Room of the Secretariat of State for Tourism by the Secretary of State Federico Pedini Amatiby the director of the Tourism Office Nicoletta Corbelli and by the director of the Tourism Department Filippo Francini.
According to the data illustrated, the overall trend confirms the trend of recent years and keeps San Marino on the path to exceeding two million visitors over the course of the year.
On the transport front, the cable car recorded a drop of almost 15% in passengers. Among the factors indicated are the increase in ticket prices and the prolonged closure of the Baldasserona car park for works. The press release also highlights the impact of the situation at Rimini airport and a greater propensity to use public transport in the context of rising fuel prices.
Arrivals and overnight stays in accommodation facilities are growing
The accommodation sector recorded positive results. Between June and September, arrivals in San Marino accommodation facilities increased by 4.4% compared to 2025 and by 3.35% compared to 2024. Nights spent on Titan also increased, with an increase of 2.98% on an annual basis.
The foreign component continues to exceed the Italian one. Italians represent 45% of guests in accommodation facilities, followed by Germans with 11.2%, the Dutch with 4.5%, the British with 3.5%, the Poles with 2.7% and the French and Austrians, both at 2.6%.
Among visitors from outside Europe, Americans make up 3.3% of the total guests indicated, while overall 10% come from countries such as China, Brazil, Canada, Australia and Japan.
The average stay also increases, especially thanks to non-hotel facilities, chosen for an average of 2.4 nights. In hotels, the average stay stands at 1.56 nights.
Commerce and catering are growing
Positive signals also come from SMAC data relating to the economic activities of the historic centre. In the summer period, trade recorded an increase of 5.28% compared to 2025, while accommodation and catering recorded a growth of 6.79%.
The data on the tourist tax instead concerns the first six months of 2026, and not the entire summer season, and is in line with the 2025 collections.
The White and Blue Train exceeds 3,000 visitors
Among the novelties of the season is the new route of the Blue and White Train, inaugurated on 29 June 2026. From the day of opening to 30 September, 263 journeys were made distributed over 38 days of activity, with 3,284 visitors in total and an average of almost 90 people per day.
On the occasion of the next end-of-year conference, the Secretariat of State for Tourism also plans to use the data from the digitalized ParkIT camera system and to include passengers on the Rimini-San Marino bus line in the count, so far not considered in the overall surveys.
