They kill a renowned tourism businessman in Masca, Omoa

A renowned businessman in the tourism sector was murdered this Sunday in the community of Masca, municipality of Omoa, department of Cortés.

The victim was identified as Iván Pérez Suazo, who, in addition to dedicating himself to the tourism industry, was a community leader known in the town for his participation in development initiatives.

According to preliminary information, armed individuals arrived at the place where Pérez was and shot him several times, immediately taking his life.

Pérez also participated in the political life of the municipality, since at the time he was a pre-candidate for the Omoa mayor’s office for the National Party, and also served as municipal judge.

Until now, the authorities have not determined the motive for the crime and no people have been captured in relation to this violent event, while the corresponding investigations are being carried out.

Residents of Masca have expressed their indignation and demand justice for the death of the businessman, whom they highlighted for promoting tourism and local development in Omoa.

The renowned National Party activist had already been the victim of an attempt on his life in July 2020, according to local media in Omoa.
