Staff of Animal Welfare of the Canelones Municipality began a search operation to locate a puma that was seen in the Camino de los Horneros area, community sources confirmed to The Observer.
The fact became public knowledge after an image published in the first instance by the local media of Canelones The Megaphone.
The search was activated after the mayor of the area received several messages from neighbors, who claimed to have seen an animal with characteristics similar to those of a puma in the place.
At this time, the Canelones Municipality began an intensive search for the animal, which includes drone flights in the area and the work of the commune’s Animal Welfare staff on the ground.
“One of the presumptions is that it could be from someone who bought it or got it somewhere, in a not very legal way surely“said the president of the National Institute of Animal Welfare (INBA), Esteban Vieta, at a press conference.
