According to Jam Jam Online, quoted by Al Arabi, Majid Al Ansari, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, in a press conference, while explaining Doha’s positions regarding the current crises in the region, emphasized the priority of diplomacy and international coordination.
Al-Ansari warned: Disruption of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz will have severe negative consequences on world trade. The energy and food security of the world cannot afford any ill-considered adventure.
Pointing to the existence of complete coordination between Qatar and Pakistan, he said: Qatar is continuously consulting with its regional and international partners to end the current crisis.
Rejecting the claims that the Persian Gulf countries want to escalate tensions with Tehran, this Qatari official said: We do not agree with the hypothesis that the countries of the region have already sought tensions with Iran. Before the current crisis, these countries have always sought to find diplomatic solutions through interaction with Iran.
In another part of his news conference, he pointed to the continuation of Qatar’s role in the Gaza case and clarified: Doha’s efforts continue in coordination with Egypt and Turkey and will not be influenced by media reports or biased accusations. Negotiations related to Gaza are being pursued rapidly, and Qatar currently has no intention of stopping this mediation.
Majid Al-Ansari, emphasizing that the current war in the region is the main cause of disruption in maritime traffic, stated: Using the Strait of Hormuz as a lever for political or military pressure is not acceptable in any way. We call on all involved parties to take immediate action to reopen the strait and we support any move that will help to reopen it and ensure its sustainable security in the future.
While expressing hope for the continuation of the dialogue between Iran and the United States, the spokesman of Qatar’s foreign ministry emphasized: Any future agreement between the two sides must take into account the concerns of the international community about Iran in order to lead to a stable diplomatic solution.
He noted that the negotiations to end the war are still going on despite the many difficulties.
