And endure Seventh session This year, the slogan is “Beyond the Frame,” as the festival’s president and co-founder, Princess Rym Ali, said: “(Beyond the Frame) is an invitation to look beyond the image and beyond the screen, to reach the human stories that bring us together. It is a reminder that some of the most important elements of the story go beyond the borders of the frame, and that what lies behind the image holds a diversity of viewpoints and visions.”
She added: “In a world that is changing at a rapid pace, and at a time when artificial intelligence is affecting artistic tools in an unprecedented way, cinema remains a humanitarian work par excellence, expanding our understanding of each other and opening up new horizons for us.”
For her part, festival director and co-founder, Nada Doumani, said: “As the festival continues to develop, we continue to celebrate films that go beyond the camera lens. Today, more than ever, we need the collaboration of artists, intellectuals, and cultural workers to understand the world around us, contemplate the accelerating transformations, and listen to the stories and voices whose echoes remain present even after the absence of the image.”
The official poster for this session carries a visual interpretation of the slogan, through frames that expand and go beyond the boundaries of the image towards multiple visions. More details regarding the festival’s programme, participating films, jury members and guests are scheduled to be announced in the coming weeks.
