Mark Carney announced that his country is in a weak position due to the lack of diplomatic presence in countries like Iran and should reopen its embassies in Tehran and Caracas.
Pointing to the problems of providing consular services, he said that the absence of Canadian embassies in countries like Iran and Venezuela has faced serious difficulties in dealing with the affairs of Canadian citizens.
Carney emphasized that the reopening of diplomatic missions in these countries can help improve consular services and strengthen diplomatic communications.
In 2012, in continuation of its hostile policies against the Islamic Republic of Iran, Canada closed its embassy in Tehran and suspended diplomatic relations with Iran.
