Leslie Yvonne Tzicap, director of the Directorate of Consumer Care and Assistance (Diaco), referred this Tuesday, April 14, to the 79 complaints have been filed with the Public Ministry (MP) for possible irregularities in fuel prices.
He stated that the complaints have already been judicialized, which implies that they are currently under the knowledge of a judge and in the hearing phase.
He explained that these complaints derive from monitoring developed within the framework of the Sentinel Plan, in coordination with the Ministry of Energy and Mines, the Ministry of the Interior and other institutions.
The Diaco highlighted that 2,533 verifications have also been carried out nationwide to monitor the behavior of prices at fuel stores.
As he explained, the criminal process now depends on the timing of the judicial system, while it continues to provide support with technical procedures and information collection.
Besides, They are currently analyzing 62 additional files that could become new complaints.
When a possible crime is detected in the price of fuel, the Diaco refers the case to the MP and refrains from imposing administrative sanctions, so as not to interfere in the criminal investigation.
The Diaco called on the population to present formal complaints with precise information, such as location and name of the establishment, and recalled that users can rely on the reference prices published by the Ministry of Energy and Mines.
The MP has already carried out investigations at gas stations after complaints of possible price speculation.
