Soon at the session of Government of North Macedonia the project for the construction of a Center for chronic wounds and gangrene should be considered – announced the director of Geriatrics, Lence Neloska.
She pointed out that it is an old project that has been at a standstill for a long time, and now it has been updated again, MIA reported.
According to the announcements, the new facility will be built on the site of the existing old barracks and will have a ground floor and two floors.
On the ground floor, 18 outpatient clinics are planned, which will cover all activities, methods and consultation services.
About 80 geriatric beds are planned on the first floor, which will significantly increase the facility’s capacity.
The second floor will have an additional two dozen geriatric beds, an operating room, four intensive care beds and 12 post-intensive care beds for patients with gangrene.
Neloska emphasized that the implementation of this project will solve the long-standing problem with the treatment of patients with gangrene in the country.
She indicated that surgical wards across the country will be unloaded, as patients with this diagnosis will be treated at the specialized center.
According to her, this will enable timely health service for patients, and the rest of the hospitals to carry out their regular work without interruption.
The director expressed hope that the next meeting will be on the occasion of laying the foundation stone for the new center.
