In my entire life, I have never seen a man cry so much for his wife. “Oh, my love, wow. I can’t believe you left me, that you left me alone after 40 years together…!”
That was the lament that José Luis repeated over and over again in his sad farewell to his beloved Grimaldy. There were no words of consolation that would reduce the suffering that Luisanna, Griselle and Jóse’s father showed through his desperate crying.
That same pain could be seen and felt even in the four walls of the chapel where the remains of this woman were laid to rest who, without a doubt, never stopped smiling and doing good.
Pain in silence
If the husband’s screams still echo in the ears, in memory it is impossible to erase the saddened faces of Melba and Joan, Grimaldy’s mother and brother.
With just a month of crying over her departure, she still had tears to shed, but in the calm, immense pain was drawn on her face. It was better that they continued crying. There was no way to remain calm seeing the pain made people. His grief could not be ignored.
Leaving the solemn room was the best alternative, although memory did not help. You have to be very indolent to hold back your tears in the face of such a heartbreaking scene.
A whole month of uncertainty
Grief is strong when we lose someone, and not just anyone. I am referring to a woman who was an example of a good mother, an excellent wife, a daughter of those who give peace, a pimp sister, a loving aunt, a daughter-in-law and sister-in-law of those who give everything, and in short, a human being of those who are in extinction in terms of kindness, humility and honesty.
The news that she died on March 12 shocked all of us who knew her, especially knowing that she entered the hospital on her own two feet.
His death occurred in the United States, where he had resided for a long time. Her family does not have the explanation for her death, what they are clear about is that the pain of losing her touches their souls.
Searching for fabulous comfort
Accompanying this family was imminent. It is very close to ours. We have put ourselves in all of their shoes, especially those of Melba, a mother who, with the loss of her Grimaldy, I know will have a before and after in her life.
Because of this deep pain, I wanted to take her, even for a moment, to a fabulous city to find some comfort for her.
I know that this place must have the formula to say goodbye to our loved ones in a less traumatic, more natural way, and above all, with the certainty that we will see each other again.
In reality we know it, but absence punishes and hurts beyond the understanding we have about death. Goodbye dear Grimaldy. Rest in peace.
