The image of a reunion between mother and son moved social media and caused repercussions this week in São Paulo. A university professor who was considered missing for the past five years was found walking on the side of a highway. The police called the family, who went to an operational base, and hugged him in celebration.

Where and how was the teacher found?
He was found on the banks of the Washington Luís highway (SP-310), in the Taquaritinga section, interior of São Paulo. The location took place on Tuesday (21) by the TOR (Tactical Ostensive Road) team, from the 3rd Battalion of Military Police Bus station.
The agents were patrolling when they saw the man walking along the side of the road. Due to the risk of being run over, they took a preventive approach and asked for identification. At that moment, they discovered that he was a missing university professor, whose police report registered by his relatives years ago remained unsolved, according to the Military Police.
How did the disappearance happen?
During a conversation with the police, the professor revealed that he was facing personal problems when he disappeared, without maintaining any contact with his family.

The reunion took place in Araraquara, at the Military Police Operational Base.
What was the family’s reaction when they found out about the location?
A family member, identified only as Rogério, recorded a statement about the case, posted by the police themselves.
“Yesterday afternoon, we received a call regarding the whereabouts of a relative who had been missing for five years. We received a call from the Araraquara Highway Police that he was at the base of kilometer 273, and the police, with a very human nature, wonderful social work, for which we have a lot to be grateful for, managed to make him wait for us. In short, they gave him all the support, care and attention,” he said.
The family member celebrated the reunion. “And then the mother can be reunited with her son. It was a wonderful reunion. And, through this video, it is the least that the family has to make public, thank them and show the relevance of the police’s work”, he stated.
His mother told the police that she no longer believed the teacher was alive. In the video of the reunion she could only repeat the phrase “my son, my son”, through tears while hugging him.
How was the teacher when he was found?
“I’m alive. Very strong, nourished. I walked all over the country. Thick leg, strong”, were the first words spoken by him, whose name and age were not revealed.
Despite the video and having posed for photos at the police station, the family, who was located in Osascoin Grande São Pauloasked for privacy.
