A recent Grenada x New York film co-production brought together students and creatives for a hands-on film industry experience at T A Marryshow Community College (TAMCC), with participation from the Department of Arts, Humanities, and General Studies, reinforcing a growing focus on skills development and creative exchange on the island.
On 27 April, approximately 25 participants, including students and film production practitioners, attended a combined casting call and production lighting workshop hosted on the TAMCC campus. The session was structured as a working production environment, combining technical instruction with real-time casting activity.
Participants were introduced to professional camera and lighting setups during the audition process, gaining valuable hands-on experience beyond traditional classroom learning. Reflecting on the opportunity, J. Mitchell shared, “I would definitely recommend this to my friends, and if there is an opportunity in the future to come back and showcase my skills, I would absolutely return.”
Rather than a standalone workshop, the session enabled participants to light auditioning talent, observe direction, and understand how production roles interact on set. This provided a working overview of filmmaking processes, from performance through to technical execution.
The workshop was facilitated by New York–based filmmaker and Director of Photography Karl Bigby (Faceless Studios). MProjekts Creative Group, led by Meschida Philip, organised the program and partnered with the school, with coordination and engagement support from Forrester Creative Renaissance Fund.

The film production initiative is led by Forrester Creative Renaissance Fund and Faceless Studios, with co-production collaboration with MProjekts Creative Group and Grenada Film Company, and centres on two short films — Cutting Dead Ends and Sunday — currently in pre-production.
Both films involve Grenadian actors and creatives, supported by a mixed local and international crew.
The collaboration continues through April to July 2026, including pre-production, principal photography, and structured on-set shadowing and internship opportunities for TAMCC students.
All producing partners share direct cultural ties to Grenada, grounding the initiative in both authenticity and long-term investment in the island’s creative sector.
