What takes a long time finally becomes good. It has been officially decided for well over a year that the municipality of Schengen should get a pharmacy. Now a location has been found. It is located in Remerschen, as was explained at the municipal council meeting on Tuesday, opposite the youth hostel, between the Caves du Sud winery and the Valentiny Foundation.
In addition to Wasserbillig, Grevenmacher, Remich and Mondorf on the Luxembourg side and in Nittel and Perl on the German side, the new pharmacy ensures better health care in the border triangle and on the Moselle in general and closes a gap.
The pharmacy is housed in a container structure, although the term should not be misunderstood. The plan is for a solid, attractively designed building with over 120 square meters of space and a wide range of offerings. The equipment should also enable night service.
The costs amount to 695,000 euros. The opening is scheduled for early November this year.
No rent is charged for the first six months, after which the monthly fee is 1,400 euros and after one year 2,800 euros.
The local council members unanimously approved the project. This means that Schengen will have its own pharmacy for the first time. (mago)
