One of the ironclad principles of journalism is that the journalist should not report on himself. The reason for this is obvious: critical distance from the object of consideration is difficult to implement in this case. However, there are occasions when as a journalist you cannot avoid navel-gazing. One such occasion was the 100th birthday of the “Association luxembourgeoise des journalistes professionels”, the ALJP, which the reporters’ guild celebrated on Saturday evening in the “Chouchou” in Hollerich. Due to the lack of critical distance, the following report is written from an ironic self-distance.
