Damascus, June 17 (SANA) The Syrian Village Festival opened on Tuesday at Umayyad Gardens in Damascus, bringing together artisans, small-business owners, cultural organizations and entertainment activities in an event aimed at supporting local production and community initiatives.
Held under the patronage of Damascus Governorate, the festival will run through July 10 and features around 170 exhibition booths. Organizers said 60 spaces have been allocated free of charge to associations, artisans and family-run businesses as part of efforts to support small-scale economic projects.
The event includes live music performances, children’s theater shows, paragliding displays and public screenings of major sporting events, including 2026 FIFA World Cup matches.
Karim Ka’adan, the festival’s coordinating director, said the event is designed to provide artisans, traditional craftspeople, producers and charitable organizations with an opportunity to showcase their products and expand their market reach.
He said the festival combines commerce, culture and entertainment while creating opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises and contributing to local economic activity.
Fatina Zeino, the festival’s logistics coordinator, said the event serves as a platform for community initiatives and small businesses, helping participants promote their products and connect with consumers.
The festival includes a marketplace, family entertainment areas, children’s activity zones and a dedicated plaza featuring restaurants, cafés and large screens broadcasting sporting events.
A food court showcasing products from across Syria is among the festival’s attractions, while the site’s Roman theater hosts daily concerts, children’s performances and cultural programs.
The festival is open daily from 5 p.m. until midnight and admission is free for visitors of all ages.
