The General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport in Syria announced the temporary closure of the country’s southern air corridors for a period of 12 hours, starting at 23:00 pm today (Sunday) until 11:00 am tomorrow (Monday).
The authority explained in a statement today that this also includes suspending operational operations at Damascus International Airport during the closure period, noting that the closure comes in light of recent regional developments, and based on the ongoing technical assessments it conducts through the committee responsible for risk management.
The Authority pointed out that this decision comes as a precautionary measure following a comprehensive technical evaluation and in coordination with the relevant authorities, to ensure the safety of air navigation and flight operations in accordance with approved international standards.
